From the "Outbound Processing" menu, take the "Work With Orders" option.  Once on the "Work With Orders" panel, locate the order and place the "Print Picksht" option next to it.  When the option is taken the status of the order will typically change from 'EN' (entered) to 'SP' (Submitted Pick).  A separate job is submitted to commit the stock and produce the pick sheet.

If one or more of the items are short in inventory the status will change to 'EP' (error pick).  For further information on this refer to the Stock Commitment Process task sheet.  Once the pick sheet processing is completed the order status will change to 'PS' (pick sheet) status.

The pick sheet will be printed on the printer identified on the order header screen.  This is typically the printer set as the default for the account during account setup.  The printer can be re-directed on the order header if the pick sheet should be printed in a different location.

The pick sheet is designed to be printed in landscape mode.  This allows for the standard quantity and identifying information to print for each order line along with information necessary and useful during the pick process.  A quantity picked and checked off column are provided.

WDLS uses an exit point (PICKSHEET) to determine the style of pick sheet that you wish to use for each account.  Several custom pick sheets have been developed over time to meet account specific needs such as listing serial numbers or printing the order number or item codes in bar-code to facility some down-stream order process.  Two standard styles are delivered within WDLS, and customized styles may be available at your site.  The OBP34R program produces a landscape (wide carriage) layout.  The OBP34R2 program produces a portrait (narrow carriage) layout.

The following depicts the same pick ticket formatted in the standard portrait layout.

While this layout provides essentially the same information as the landscape layout, the form is restricted to an 80-column width.  This can be significant based upon the type of printer you are using to produce the sheet.  When a laser printer is used to produce the sheets, wide listings are automatically rotated on the page and the font size is reduced.  Using the portrait layout can result in a larger and easier to read pick sheet in this instance.

At the top of the page the document is identified as a pick ticket .  At the upper right is the page number and the total number of pages .  Beneath is the order number in WDLS.  Next is information from the header of the order.  The consignee’s name and address , building , scheduled ship and arrival dates , reference number , P.O. number , carrier , freight responsibility , and the storer are all identified.

The special comments area at the top of the form is provided for input of comments from the warehouse floor for return to the office.

In the body of the form there is a list of the items to be picked.  The items are sorted according to the pick sequence selected for the account during setup.  Listed is the location , the quantity to pull , the unit of measure , an indication if the product is hazardous , the item code , description , weight , cubic feet , an indication if this is a bottom/middle/top stacking item, and the number of pallets, layers, and cases to pick.

Several different comment sources are drawn from and imbedded in the body of the pick ticket as found.  Order detail comments follow each line, and order header comments follow the last item.  For a complete understanding of all the comment sources, refer to the "Understanding Bill of Lading / Pick Ticket" comments task.

At the bottom of the last page of the pick ticket you will find the total number of pieces , the total gross weight , and the total cubic feet .  On the bottom of the page the date , time , and user that requested the pick ticket are printed.

The pick sheet can also be "printed" to the screen.  A separate option exists to display the pick sheet at your terminal.  This option is labeled "Pick Inquiry".  When this option is taken, all the steps used to prepare the body of the pick sheet are performed and the results are displayed on your screen over several panels.  This process incorporates comments and any extra lines that you will see on the actual pick sheet.  It can be useful to verify information prior to producing the paper document.

WDLS also offers the option to print both the pick sheet and packing list in one option.  This can be done from the "Work With Orders" panel.  Place the "Prt Pick/Pack" option next to the desired order to send these documents to the designated printer.
